Badminton in Melton Mowbray
The only fun way to exercise that I’ve ever found, apart from sex, is to play Badminton. There are several clubs in Melton Mowbray who put fun before winning where players will say half way through “by the way what’s the score?”, a habit which is guaranteed to annoy the hell out of players at serious clubs. I play with two ‘just for fun’ clubs. Both clubs play from 8 - 10 pm, one on Tuesdays and one on Thursdays throughout the year. Both use the Sarson Sports Centre at the King Edward VII Upper School on Burton Road. This has four courts on an excellent sprung wooden floor. It also has a first rate gym and licensed bar, both of which I use, one counteracting the effects of the other. Badmionton clubs are nearly always looking for more members, and intermediate players are wanted by both my clubs so do contact me or just turn up on a club night if you know the game and want to have some 'just for fun' excercise. If you are a more serious smasher there are other clubs at the sports centre such as Old Grammarians (OGs) (Mondays) and Pedigree Petfoods (Wednesdays) who are ‘league’ clubs, plus some clubs at local schools and village halls, though the complex rules about hitting the roof bracings while playing inside something not much bigger than a garden shed makes me wonder what they put in the water in these villages.Contact InformationTel: +44 1664 852614 Fax: +44 1664 852615
