Introduction
Neil Rathbone
Vintage 1955, I have a Board-level background in marketing, company development, and corporate governance. I am a Fellow of the Institute of Directors. I have spent more than 20 years at the sharp end of business management, mostly in and around high-growth small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public sector schemes to improve their survivability and competitiveness. I am a member of the technology transfer association TII. I work for a small number of clients around Europe, most of all for the European Union’s research, development and innovation service, CORDIS, where I develop new Web-based services such as Technology Marketplace. During the last 10 years I have become involved in light aviation as an amateur pilot and have a growing professional interest in the interaction of technology, regulation, and European harmonisation in terms of the way it affects hobby and sport pilots. InterestsAs well as a general intertest in science, technology, and business I am a keen pilot of both gliders and powered aeroplanes. I am Chairman of Buckminster Gliding Club near Grantham and a member of a flying group that has a six-seat Piper Saratoga based in North Nottighamshire. As flying, gliding in particular, seems to involve a bootload of equipment and towing things around airfields I have bought an old Land Rover as a 'Special Use Vehicle' as the Americans would say. I am equipping it with various bolt-on goodies. My wife says its a male menopause thing. I play badminton twice a week to keep fit, and attend a local gym at lunchtimes. I am an avid watcher of gardening programmes but never garden. Curriculum VitaeYou can download my CV here in: Contact InformationTel: +44 1664 852614 Fax: +44 1664 852615
